I see many of us have dogs or cats or other pets. What are your pets names and is there any story behind the name?

My dogs are Princess Buttercup from teh movie The Princess Bride (luckily it was a female because a male was going to be "My name is Indigo Montoya, you killed my father prepare to die" and the other is Sammy but he was my SD dog so she named him.

Kacey is my blind psycho overweight beagle, Gabe insisted we name her after a girl he had a crush on in his class.
Mack and Diesel are litter mate brothers. Mack got his name from the Rescue people and Dominic kept calling the puppies his Mack dogs, so his stuck. Diesel was originally Tank, wasn't fond of it. Love Vin Diesel, also thought the name sounded cool with Mack.

My cat is Butterball...originally she was butterscotch because of the color of her eyes but she got really fat so butterball has been her name for a very long time.

Annabelle was her name at Indy Care & Control so we kept it. Exciting, huh?
Prior to marriage, my dh and I each had our own naming conventions when it came to pets. I named my pets after political candidates (Jesse (as in Jackson), George (Bush I), Al (Gore). Dh makes letter sounds into names (e.g., Jahe, Elle, Eph.)

My parents name their animals after democrats. They have had Bill (William Jefferson Beagle), Truman, Rosie (Roosevelt, the miniature donkey), and Blue State (the horse). We have Zeb the Schnoodle. He came with the name from the rescue and the kids wouldn't let me change it. Tikoe the cat, I don't remember how we came up with that one. Tarzan (Tarzan Pontchatrain the Bayou Bengal, our Hurricane cat) and Phoenix (an orange cat, but we usually just call her "kitten")

Our chocolate lab is named Buster. We rescued him through through CILRA (Central Indiana Lab Rescue & Adoption). Since he was about 5 years old when we brought him home and already had a name, we kept it. We do call him Buster Brown, which is appropriate for his coloring. Our tabby cat is Jack and our calico cat is Lily. No special reasons for either of them. I just liked the names and they seem to fit their personalities.

My dogs are Sandy and Chester. Both were the names they had in rescue, so we kept them. Chester actually fits him PERFECTLY. Sandy, not so much, but it almost makes it funny how much the name doesn't fit her personality. They have lots of nicknames, too, and from those we also created "formal" names for them. Sandy's full name is Sandy Wiley Boudreaux F___. Chester's is Chester-Man Tchopitoulas F___. We like New Orleans. We actually call Sandy, Boudreaux (or Boudreauxy) more often then we call her Sandy! At one time we called Sandy, Brownberry Butter Biscuit. Chester is also sometimes known as Oglethorpe and "Glass of Milk." My DH likes coming up with crazy nicknames for them. There are many more, those are just my faves.

4 cats - Juneau, my first & oldest, the only male. I got from a book, it was the name of the hero. Don't even remember what book it was now, that was 11 years ago!
Lima, (pronounced Leema) our second, to keep in line with names that are also names of cities, and it is also the letter L in the phonetic alphabet, a nod to our love of aviation. We also call her our Moo Cow because she is white with large grey spots, looks just like a cat version of a cow!
Diesel, Lima's sister and arch rival. We brought her home 4 months after Lima because no one had taken her out of the litter of barn cats at my brothers, and I really loved her. She's all black and has a purr like a diesel engine, 3 part harmony & just as loud, voila!
Echo, our last a brown tabby, and complete sh*t of a cat. Named after the letter E in the phonetic alphabet (aviation anyone?) and the fact that she is so dumb she might have more air than brain in there, echo echo echo...

We had two hamsters that were brothers--Chips and Peanut Butter. Now we only have PB cuz he ate Chips :-P We have a dog named Cody. It was his name @ adoption, and DD liked it. We call him CoCo. We also have a fish w/o a name. Funny Pitbull. I have always given formal nicknames, too. Before ds was born,we had an orange tiger cat named Leo. I would call him all kinds of wacky stuff. Like Sir Leo Decatrio
