I used to be part of a book club. I kind of miss it. We'd read a book and have a dinner with the theme coming from the book. For instance we read a romantic book and had a romantic food dinner. Once we read a book that had some Irish pub scenes so we had dinner at The Claddaugh (followed by Nicky Blaines's which had nothing to do with the pub book connection LOL) So we'd have the tie-in dinner and discus the book and then whatever else happened to come up. It was always a good time. I always thought it was pretty cool that we managed to actually discuss the book |

I need to be in a book club where I don't have to actually discuss a book. I love to read, but discussing it more than 5 minutes is not appealing. Now, through in food and drinks, and you have me :-)

The book clubs I see in movies where it's like 5-8 friends, wine, food and a good book to start off the evening discussion... THAT's what I want. everytime I try to find a book club it ends up being tee-totalling old farts who take themselves way too seriously.

That's what it was. We spent a little time talking about the book. It was a "great uniter", if you will. It gave everyone something to talk about, which was nice. After a few minutes, it was all about the food and wine and whatnot. It was pretty perfect, actually, and the more I keep talking about it, the more I miss it.

Hi all! I am Abbi, aclissold, on the other site too- I tried to come up with a different screen name for here, but couldn't. I was an Indymom for 2 years until late last summer when we relocated to Fort Wayne, for a new job for my husband. I miss my Indy friends terribly! I have 2 girls- 8 and 2 1/2 and a baby due next month. I am a combination SAHM/WAHM and a former first grade teacher. I like to read, scrapbook, go to the pool or beach, garden, and other things that involve warmer weather than we have right now.
