Cin, are you going to be a pilot? I am a pilot. Private pilot single engine land. Small planes. I hope someday to be a a commercial pilot but not for the airlines, I'd like to be a career CFI - Certified Flight Instructor. My DH is an airline pilot, and that is enough for the both of us. My heart lies with the general aviation community, small planes, small airports, good people.

That's one thing that's really cool about Alaska too... about 1 in 3 people up there are pilots, with their own planes. (mostly water/ice craft)

My dad is a pilot and has built two of his own planes. And yet I have never ever flown. Isn't that ironic.

I think taking flying lessons would be so cool. DH Scott says he wants to learn after he retires (way, way in the future sometime).

artzyval, I have to admit, it is ironic. Why didn't you fly?
Cin, do you fly some famous people?
Flying lessons must be cool, unless you are terrified of the heights like me..I can fly but only in big planes, and if someone else is driving.

One of Nilesh's dreams is to be a pilot. He's wanted to fly a plane since he was like 3.

I so wish I could travel to the places I need to go by car or train. I do NOT want to take three kids on a 20+ hours flight to India. Someday, I'll have to bite that bullet though. eeek.

Flying lessons must be cool, unless you are terrified of the heights like me..I can fly but only in big planes, and if someone else is driving. Nope no famous people, lol. Actually you might be just fine in a small plane if you went up with someone you felt comfortable with. My DH is scared of heights as well but isn't scared in airplanes. I think it has to do with the fact that you are strapped in & there's a big engine on the front that keeps you from falling out of the sky, and the airplane actually flies just fine without the engine, it's just called gliding & I essential do that every time I land because you pull the power to idle before you land. Tracy - I visited Alaska once when I was 17 and loved it (during the summer). I would love to live there if it wasn't so darn cold in the winter! It's a beautiful place & I'd love to be a bush pilot, but I'll settle for just visiting again someday!
