I know personally, it's easy for me to associate a picture with a person. I rarely even look at the name, but the picture. I've noticed a couple members here have theirs, but I cannot for the life of me add mine! I went under my profile, and I see the option to add one, but am failing miserably I saw where you can copy and paste the URL (which I copy and pasted from facebook). DIdn't work. Suggestions?

How are you copying the picture URL? I pull up the picture I want as my avatar, and then right-click on it and select "Copy Image Location." That gets the location of the picture itself and not just the page it's appearing on - make sense? Then you need to set the avatar width and height right below it, up to 100x100.
I have found that it's a bit buggy, though - I just changed mine to my Facebook avatar and tried to change it back to the one I'd had in Photobucket, but I couldn't get the old one to work again. Not sure what's going on there!

I have found FB images to be twitchy in general. I have more success with images hosted other places.

Oooooh, Misty . . . we can add animated GIFs! That's pretty cool!
BTW, I also have to say that I like the size of the avatars - easier to see than they are on certain other sites.

Boo I tried again, didn't work. I have the pic pulled up from facebook. When I right click on it, the only thing I can click that makes sense is "copy". I have no option that says copy from location. Awell.

The blinking smilies are more annoying than your current avatar, so I'll still be your friend.

I've tried as well to add a pic, but can't seem to find the url. All I can come up with is where it's located on my computer. Ie: in my docs.
So I've decided to use a generic from the list.

Hotlinking is just linking straight to someone else's image, without saving it in your own online location. It uses up the other person's bandwidth, so often the owners of other sites do not like it.

Just to let everyone know--I STILL haven't been able to add mine. It's making me kinda pissy. It's just the point now--I want to figure it out! Grrrrr...

AUGH! I STILL can't do it! I pulled up the pic in snapfish. I right-clicked on it and picked "copy image URL." Then, I pasted that into the field for avatar url, and set the size to 100x100. Nothing happened! Help?

Nothing happened! Help? Did you type in your password? I was having major issues (after putting my original avatar in when I first created my profile) changing my avatar until I realized I had to type in my password to be able to modify anything.

Darn it! OK, I tried snapfish, Picasa, and photobucket and none worked! But this pic of one of my pitties is on a friend's website, and it worked. So this it will be for now, even though it's not the best pic. I wish it would let you upload something from your computer.
