kbean's post got me thinking....and a few others mentioned that they liked the GTKY threads and that it might be a good idea for some of the shyer (is that a word) people to start their own. I didn't want to hijack kbean's post, so I'm gonna make one of my own.

Like kbean, I feel like I know a lot more about a lot of you then you do about me. I joined the other site 2 years ago when my DH was applying to IMPD. He made it all the way through the hiring process and all the way up to the very last phase only to find out that he wasn't going to be hired at that time. We were almost sure he was going to be so I had joined the site to find out some info. about Indy and schools, etc. This was also right about the time that Michele found a lump and was diagnosed with breast cancer. I was so impressed by the outpouring love and kindness that you all provided to her and her family. You were like one big family. I was so impressed that I just couldn't leave the site, even though we never actually moved to Indy.

So now a little bit about me. I am married to my high school sweetheart. We met our freshman year in high school. We have 4 kids together....2 girls and 2 boys. We have been married for 4.5 yrs, but we have been together for 10.5 yrs. I was born in South Bend, grew up in Granger, and now I live in Mishawaka. For those of you who aren't familiar with this area, all three cities are connected and within 10-15 min. from each other, so I've pretty much lived in the same area my whole life. I haven't been able to find any websites for moms up here, well I found a couple, but they aren't very active and nothing compared to the ones you all have in Indy, which is another reason I just couldn't drag myself away. I loved being able to know I could count on you for advice and when I had questions.

So if anyone has any questions for me, feel free to ask and I'll try to answer them!

Welcome, Mishawaka friend! You may remember, I'm a Mishawaka native myself (as is Chey, I believe?) Anyway, I still visit frequently as my parents live in the house I grew up in. We were just there in June and discovered the amazing changes to Potawatomi park - the playgrounds are fantastic! I was particularly impressed with the parental involvement with the kids. It was a very busy Saturday and it seemed like every child had an adult watching/playing/ helping. So different than some of the Indy parks! It almost (but not quite) made me want to move back!

Anyway, welcome and thanks for saying 'hi.'

One of my friends has an Aubrie (spells it the same way!). How did you decide on your kids names?

It looks like your girls both have reddish hair. Do you have red hair? I love red hair, especially strawberry blonde.

What's your guilty pleasure? Do you have any pets? What's your favorite date place?

The kids' names....well DD1, Makayla was the name of my first "real" boyfriend's sister's name and I loved it. I always said if I ever had a girl, her name would be Makayla. So as soon as I found out I preg. I told my bf (DH) that her name would be Makayla. With DD2, Aubrie was the name of a girl in our class who passed away our sophmore year. DH was good friends with her and wanted to name DD after her. Aiden was the only boys name I liked when I was preg. with #3. DH hated it and said he didn't want to name him after a reality TV show (Jon and Kate Plus 8 have an Aidan) but I just liked the name. We couldn't agree on any other names so we went to the hospital with no names. As soon as DS was born and we found out it was a boy, DH gave in! And with #4 I really liked the name Gavin, but DH wasn't a fan, so I decided I wanted to find another "M" name....2 A's and 2 M's. I liked the name Max, but it's so short. I forget where I saw the name Maxton, but I thought it was cute, so I suggested it and DH agreed.

The girls do have reddish hair, kind of like a strawberry blonde. It's funny because Before #4 was born I had to girls with red hair and a boy with brown hair. My sister and I both have red hair and our younger brother has brown hair, so it was like a spitting image of my own family. But yes, I do have reddish hair, it's more of an auburn color now. But both DS's have brown hair like their dad.

My guilty please....? I guess sweets. I can almost never turn down sweets, especially chocolate (unless it's dark chocolate).

We have two dogs (both girls). One is a Shih Tzu (Izzie) and the other is a lab-german shephard-chow mix (Haley). We had had an Oscar fish, but he died just after Thanksgiving.

Favorite date place would probably be Red Lobster I guess. 8 times out of 10 we end up there because it's DH's fave place and I love their Mai Tai's. DH always leaves it up to me and I'm indecisive, so we just end up at Red Lobster.
